Shipping Policy
Last updated: 9 June 2026
Effective date: 9 June 2026
This Shipping Policy explains how Precious Carats Pvt Ltd ("PreciousCarats", "we", "our", "us") ships gemstones, jewelry, and accessories purchased from preciouscarats.com. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Where We Ship
Domestic: We ship across India.
International: We ship to most international destinations, subject to local import laws, customs clearance, and our internal eligibility checks. Some categories of gemstones may not be exportable to certain countries; if your destination is restricted, we will inform you before processing the order.
2. Shipping Partners and Insurance
Because we handle high-value, certified gemstones, we ship through carriers and procedures appropriate to the value of the consignment.
2.1 Domestic Shipments
For domestic shipments, we use a combination of:
- Specialised valuables logistics partners including BVC Logistics, Brink's, Malca-Amit, and Sequel Logistics for higher-value consignments. These carriers are recognised under standard Jewellers Block insurance policy wordings, which simplifies claim handling in the rare event of loss or damage in transit.
- Shipping aggregator and premium courier services: we use Shiprocket as our primary aggregator, which routes consignments through its network of empanelled courier partners — including, as available for the destination PIN code, Blue Dart, Delhivery, DTDC, Ekart, Xpressbees, and other partner couriers. Lower-value or smaller consignments ship through this network with declared-value insurance applied at the consignment level.
All domestic shipments are dispatched in tamper-evident packaging and are covered by transit insurance under our Jewellers Block policy or carrier-level insurance, as appropriate to the consignment value.
2.2 International Shipments
For international shipments, the carrier is selected according to the value and destination of the consignment:
- Higher-value consignments move through specialised secure logistics providers — including Brink's, Malca-Amit, BVC Logistics, and Sequel Logistics — which handle precious cargo end to end with vaulted handling, declared value, and full customs documentation.
- Other consignments move through insured international couriers — including FedEx, DHL, Aramex, Blue Dart International, and Shiprocket's international fulfilment network (ShiprocketX) with its associated international courier partners — as appropriate for the destination, with declared value and full customs documentation.
International orders are final sale. Due to the operational complexity of cross-border returns, customs re-import, and transit insurance, international orders are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange.
Live-Video Certification Call for International Orders of USD 2,000 or More
Because international orders are final sale, every international order with a declared value of USD 2,000 or more (approximately ₹1,70,000), excluding shipping, requires a mandatory live-video certification call with the buyer before dispatch.
During the call, our team will:
- Show the actual stone(s) being shipped, from multiple angles and under controlled lighting;
- Walk through the accompanying certificate, weight, and any treatments;
- Confirm packing and seal in real time;
- Answer any final questions before the parcel is closed.
The call is scheduled by mutual agreement after Order Confirmation, typically over WhatsApp Video or Google Meet. Dispatch happens immediately after the call, with the pre-packing video and certificate forwarded over email or WhatsApp.
This step protects both you and us — it converts a high-stakes, irreversible transaction into a transparent one, with the buyer present at the moment of dispatch.
2.3 Risk in Transit
Risk in transit is covered by our insurance arrangements until delivery to the address you have specified. Risk passes to you upon delivery, subject to the unboxing protocol described in Section 5.
3. Order Processing and Dispatch Timelines
| Order Type | Indicative Dispatch Time |
|---|---|
| Loose gemstones (in stock, certified, ready to ship) | 1–3 business days from Order Confirmation |
| Loose gemstones requiring fresh certification | 5–10 business days |
| Custom jewelry (gemstone set into ring, pendant, etc.) | 14–21 business days, depending on design and metal |
| International shipments | Add 2–5 business days for customs documentation |
These are indicative timelines. Actual timelines depend on stone availability, certification turnaround, and design complexity, and we will keep you updated over WhatsApp and email.
We do not dispatch on Sundays and Indian public holidays.
4. Shipping Charges
Domestic Orders: Shipping is free on all domestic orders unless otherwise stated at checkout.
International Orders:
- Orders valued at USD 2,000 or more (approximately ₹1,70,000), excluding shipping: Shipping is free. We arrange and pay for insured international courier.
- Orders valued below USD 2,000: Shipping is not charged at checkout. Because insured international courier costs vary significantly by destination, weight, and declared value, our concierge will contact you after Order Confirmation with the actual shipping cost and issue a separate payment link.
Customs duties and import taxes for international destinations are levied by your country's authorities and are your responsibility unless explicitly stated otherwise (see Section 9).
We reserve the right to revise shipping charges or shipping eligibility from time to time.
5. The Pre-Packing Video and Unboxing Protocol
For every shipment — domestic and international, regardless of value — we record a pre-packing video that captures:
- The certificate accompanying the stone(s);
- The stone(s) themselves;
- The packaging being sealed in tamper-evident form.
The pre-packing video, along with the certificate and the invoice, forms the definitive record of what left our facility.
Unboxing — Please Follow This Protocol
- Inspect the outer packaging before opening.
- Record an unboxing video in a single continuous take.
- Verify the certificate, the stone, and the invoice match.
6. Address Accuracy and Delivery
- You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.
- Returned shipments may require re-delivery arrangements and charges.
- Carriers typically attempt two to three deliveries before returning the consignment.
7. KYC and High-Value Shipments
For high-value orders, international shipments, and consignments that trigger legal verification requirements, we may request KYC documents including PAN, government-issued ID, and address proof.
8. Tracking
You will receive a tracking number over WhatsApp and email at the time of dispatch.
9. Customs, Duties, and International Compliance
- All consignments are shipped with full and accurate customs documentation.
- Customs duties, import taxes, GST/VAT, and administrative fees are your responsibility.
- International orders are final sale once dispatched.
10. Lost, Delayed, or Damaged Shipments
- Delayed Shipments: Contact us with your order number.
- Lost Shipments: Replacement or refund may be processed according to applicable policies.
- Damaged Shipments: The pre-packing video, unboxing video, and packaging photographs will be used to assess claims.
11. Force Majeure
Delivery timelines may be affected by events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, pandemics, government action, customs delays, strikes, civil unrest, courier disruption, and banking-system or internet outages.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Shipping Policy and any dispute, claim, or grievance arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by the laws of India. The courts and tribunals located within the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
